I am Back!

Hello, so after not blogging for a month, and hearing about it from my mother-in-law, I will try and recap what we have been doing for the past month!  Sorry!  My parents were here for a visit in October, we had halloween parties, lots of hockey, a trip to Italy and many other things!  So here I go....

One of the best things that Sean loves to do in Klagenfurt is go to the local market for soup, we all went with him one day after the kids kindergarten....

And Maya with her favorite Fritatten soup,

Sean's team had a team bonding day and they went and played paint ball,

We had some of the guys from the team for Indian food one night, and Rylan had to get a game of hockey in before dinner!

And then my parents arrived!!  Yeah!!  We went to Vienna to meet them for the weekend and then all came back to Klagenfurt together.  The kids were super excited and the whole drive there kept saying that they thought they had seen them...finally we did and they were really happy!

We had a great time in Vienna, it was a kids sightseeing trip, we went to the zoo and to the kids amusement park and the children's museum.  My mom managed to sneak in a visit to the Freud museum though!

Us at the zoo checking out the baby elephant...

On the ferris wheel at Prater...

At the kinder museum,

My parents were also here for the herbstfest at the kids kindergarten, they wear their austrian outfits and have a sort of thanksgiving celebration,

Here are the kids with their teachers after the herbstfest,

Maya has been learning to skate and getting really good!

Rylan and his friend Winnie after hockey practice in the big boy room!

We also spent one of Sean's days off fishing with one of his teammates.  We went to his house in the mountains and went fishing and then ate some of the fish.  It was really amazing the kids were excited about the place, with the fish, cows, and wonderful view!

And he caught one!

Sean took Maya for a walk with the cows,

And now for the halloween pictures!  Maya was Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Rylan was Buzz lightyear from Toy Story.

And here are Sean and I, heading out to the team party!

The kids loved the turban in the morning!

So here it is for now!  I still have some more to post tomorrow!

Sunday! Sunday!

Another wonderful Sunday, maybe the Europeans are actually on to something with all the stores being closed on Sunday!  We always seem to have great family days on Sunday, I guess that is the point!  We took the kids to their skating/hockey this morning, and Maya let go and was "walking" on the ice without any help!  Progress every time!  Then we came home afterwards and had lunch with Sean, he has a home game tonight.  I baked 100 oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies, an apple crisp and a banana bread.  Oh yeah, and also I made a huge pot of coconut lentil soup!  After all the baking I took the kids up to the mountains again behind our house.  We met some of our Austrian friends up there and took part in an Austrian tradition, roasting chesnuts and drinking Sturm, it is a type of drink that is formed before wine.  "a young wine".  It was great and we ended up playing hide and go seek with the kids for a few hours in the trees!  Sean is at the game against Graz, and so far it is tied 2-2, half way into the third period!  Here are some pics from the afternoon,

On the way up the mountain,

This way...

Chestnuts we found in the trees, and roasting on the fire!

And the young wine!

Good night!
Another weekend has flown by!  Saturday morning we had some time before Sean had practice, so we went for a hike in the mountains behind our house.  It was really cool, there are so many different kinds of mushrooms.  Some of them look like the ones from super mario brothers!  The kids had fun smashing them with a stick, because they are very poisonous of course!

The kids running to find the mushrooms!

Found one!

Hello!  Sorry I haven't posted all week.  We have had a really busy week, and I have been fighting off some kind of cold, so I was trying to go to bed early every night!  We are all fine now, and hope the bug is out of our house.  We did have a normal week of activities and baking though.  Sean is in Slovenia for a game tonight, and the kids and I went swimming and then out for pizza afterwards near the lake.  It was a really nice night.  They are crashed now of course.  Here are some pics from this week of Rylan and his friend Winston playing road hockey,

Have a good day!

Happy Sunday!  Sean has a game tonight and I think they won, last time I checked online they were winning 4-3.  We didn't go tonight, it was too late for the kids with kindergarten tomorrow morning.  Both Rylan and Maya had skating/hockey this morning, so we were already at the rink for the whole morning.  We spent the rest of the day at home.  I baked 30 apple muffins and a banana bread.  My cousin Koku, came over and cooked some yummy Indian food for us also!

Sean just got home from the game, Good night!

Hello, we all slept in this morning, because Sean had a home game last night and we weren't home until late.  The kids love going to the game, but most of all love going on the ice after the game and then to the dressing room.  If the team wins I take the kids down to the bench and then the guys take the kids on the ice and skate around for a victory lap.  They love it and wave to all the fans!  It was pouring rain last night after the game, and on the way home Sean found a huge toad.  When we got home him and the kids went searching for toads, and brought two home!  We let them go after they inspected them for a few minutes, they loved it!

Today it is still raining, so we are going to just stay home.  The kids are super tired from last night, and so am I!  Sean is at practice now and will be home in the afternoon.  Tonight I am going to Ljubljana, Slovenia with the girls from the team to watch Eat, Pray, Love in English!  I can't wait, I have been waiting so long to finally see this movie!  Enjoy your day!

Yesterday was a beautiful day, the kids ended up playing outside with all the neighbourhood kids.  They were having so much fun that they of course didn't want to come inside for dinner.  Here is a picture of our house from the street,

Here are the kids with their friends Theresa and Markus,

And here is Maya crushed that we have to come inside!

Notice how she is playing in her princess costume, it is very common for her to always have to change into her gowns when she is at home!  haha!

Good night!

Good Morning!  Both kids are at kindergarten this morning so I have time to update you on our day yesterday.  I am really enjoying the blog because I always have time in the morning to chat with everyone, but everyone from home is sleeping!  So this way if I don't have time to call in the evening at least you still know what we are doing!
Yesterday Sean had two practices, one in the morning and then again in the evening.  He got a stick to the face in the second practice and ended up needing three stitches in his nose.  Ouch!  He is okay, just has a really sore face, and a swollen nose.  Maya kept telling him this morning that he needed to blow his nose, but we tried to tell her it was just the stitches!  haha.
Maya had her ballet class in the afternoon, we tried to take pictures in the class, but we weren't allowed.  She really loves it and dances around looking at herself in the mirror the whole time.  It is really cute.  Of course she also had to have a pair of real leather ballet shoes, in pink of course!  After we took the kids for ice cream, and Maya had a chocolate cone.  After she said to us, can I have a treat now that I tried and ate all my ice cream!  haha, we had to explain that ice cream is a treat, but she thought because she tried something new, she should get another treat!

Here are some pics from yesterday:

Lately the kids are really into their toys, every morning they want to play and then are always excited to come home to their toys.  Maybe because we have been so busy, they just need some time to play alone and relax.  I always love to look at what they have created after they have been playing, it is amazing to see how great their imagination is!  Thought I would share a few pics of their latest creations,

Maya loves her little princess and playmobil, and Rylan is all about his lego and starwars ships!  I am off to pick up Maya from school now, enjoy your day!

Monday, September 20, 2010

Hi!  Today both kids were in kindergarten in the morning and Sean had the day off.  So we went for a nice breakfast and walk this morning.  It was so cold in the morning that we could see our breath, but later in the day it turned out to be really nice!  Rylan started a new hip hop dance class today.  It was really cute, and he loved it.  The music was really fun and I think he learnt a lot of new moves.  Here is a picture of the warm up we weren't allowed to stay for the whole class,
After the dance class we took the kids for ice cream, Maya finally tried to eat ice cream, and she insisted on having the pink one (strawberry) even though she doesn't like strawberries, and of course didn't like it.  So then she tried pistachio and didn't like it and finally chocolate, and she liked it!  Finally we can all go for ice cream together!

Sorry for the dark picture but we only had Sean's phone, better than nothing though!
Good night!

Over the past few years that we have been in Klagenfurt, Sean and I have found a really great coffee shop just down the street from us.  Since Sean was injured for most of the year last year, he spent a lot of time drinking coffee and hanging out at this cafe called, Ingeborg.  The owner, Klaus, has become a good friend of ours also.  This year I have started to make some cakes and muffins for him to sell at the cafe.  The European desserts typically aren't as sweet as they are in Canada, but so far people seem to enjoy them!

Here is a picture of Klaus at the coffee shop,

And here is the finished product that I was working today on our relaxing Sunday!

30 Raspberry lemon muffins and 1 banana cake for Monday morning!
Hello!  Today was a very relaxing Sunday for us.  Sean has a game tonight in Linz, and he left this morning right after practice.  We had hockey for Rylan and skating for Maya in the morning.  Maya is learning and is just trying to stand and balance on her skates, she wasn't so afraid this year as she was before.  Here are a few pics of this morning at the rink!

Sean had a few minutes before he had to go for the game, so he was able to help Maya with skating for a few minutes,
